ROAR the Cure (Radiation, Oncology Accelerated Research (ROAR), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise money for The University of Alabama (UAB) Radiation Oncology department will host its Tenth Annual ROAR James Bond Gala, “Never Say Cancer Again” to be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at The Club in Birmingham, Alabama at 6pm. This year’s honoree is Randall “Randy” Earlie Jones, and you can read more about him below.

Randy graduated from JSU in 1976 with a degree in Business Administration. His first job was working as an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America and in 1978 he opened his first Nationwide Insurance Office, with himself as his only employee. He now has agencies in 14 locations with over 90 employees. Randy has been a top producer for Nationwide for over 20 years and is the youngest inductee into the Nationwide Insurance Hall of Fame. Randy’s civic duties include: serving on the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors for 23 years; as Past President of the Guntersville United Way Campaign; past President of the WB Baker Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC); a 44 year member of the Albertville Rotary Club, having served two terms as President; service for the past seven years on the Alabama Certificate of Need Board (CON Board); member of the Board of Trustees of Jacksonville State University for the past 13 years and currently serves as Chairman. During his tenure as Chairman since 2019, the University has experienced $100 million of new construction and record enrollment. Randy’s hobbies include salt-water fishing, boating, and he is an avid twin engine pilot with all FAA certifications.

Randy has a compelling life story regarding cancer and its impact on his immediate family. There are five (5) siblings in Randy’s immediate family. He lost a sister to pancreatic cancer in May of this year, and he has another sister and a brother who are being treated for cancer. He brings a passion to fighting cancer at every opportunity as this year’s ROAR Honoree.
