Ninth Annual ROAR the Cure event to honor Jimmy Koikos
ROAR the Cure (Radiation, Oncology Accelerated Research (ROAR), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise money for The University of Alabama (UAB) Radiation Oncology department will honor restaurant legend Jimmy Koikos at its Ninth Annual ROAR James Bond Gala, “License to Cure” to be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at The Club in Birmingham, Alabama. This year’s Gala Honoree Jimmy Koikos is co-owner of the legendary Bright Star Restaurant in Bessemer, Alabama which has received numerous accolades and awards including being selected as the 2010 recipient of the James Beard Foundation’s award for American Classic Restaurant and honored by the American Cattleman’s Association in 2012’s with the “Alabama’s Best Steak” award. Koikos was celebrated at a kickoff dinner this past July at the Bright Star attended by ROAR members and guests, 2019 honoree Tony Petelos, and 2018 honoree Jimmie Stephens who introduced Koikos.

The 2020 Gala event in January will feature a silent auction, an elegant dinner presented by The Club, followed by a live auction featuring a variety of items on which to bid. A live band and dancing will also take place following the auction. ROAR the Cure began in 2009 as a nonprofit organization to raise money for The University of Alabama (UAB) Radiation Oncology department. Funds are matched dollar for dollar by UAB physicians.
